Recent questions asked by your colleagues for the 2024 summer school session:

Could you provide me the exact address where the classes will take place?

All weekday classes will take place in Salle 004, bâtiment 1, Campus Montaury, 2 allée du Parc Montaury, ANGLET. The venue for classes on the weekend will be confirmed during the session.

Why isn’t the school offering student housing options this year?

Our host university is currently undertaking the renovation of their student housing in Anglet. Given the poor reviews of last year’s students of this housing option, we recommend using either Airbnb or Gites de France, or obtaining a hotel room in Anglet or Bayonne.

How much is the university rate for the Mercure Hotel in Bayonne?

The negotiated rate for 2024 is currently 100 euros a night for a standard single room, breakfast and tourist tax included. The hotel has mentioned that there may be change in tarifs announced in January.

What do you recommend for local transportation?

Cycling is by far the easiest option for local transportation in Anglet. No more than 20 minutes from school to Bayonne, Biarritz, and the beaches in Anglet - and one of the best cycling routes in Europe (the vélodyssée) along the coast. One hitch - you have to reserve early given the number of tourists in the region during July.

Can we rely on the local bus system?

The Basque Coast has an excellent bus system that will take you from Bayonne to Saint Jean de Luz to Hendaye for a couple of euros. You can purchase group tickets that will allow up to five people to travel together.

Can you tell us a little bit more about the surf classes?

Anglet is the historic surfing capital of Europe. In 1957 and home to surfing competitions such as le Roxy Pro each July. The beaches in Anglet can be reached easily from either the campus or student housing by either bus or by bike.

Surf lessons are offered by the Rainbow Surf school in Anglet. Sarah will organize one group lesson on Sunday July 9th. Additional surf classes can be paid directly by the participants to Rainbow Surf. "Rainbow Surf school", Anglet, +33 (0) 6.18.22.37.82.

Where can I find a copy of the session’s agenda?

The latest draft of the summer school agenda will be posted this Spring. For information, last year’s agenda can be found here. What type of visa do I need to attend the summer session?

Applicants outside the outside the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland will need to apply for a short-stay visa. This visa is valid for 90 days for travel throughout Europe.
