The BAI/ZHAW Summer School - July 3-12, 2020.

I will have the pleasure of exploring with the participants of this year’s BAI/ZHAW Summer School on Data Science in Banking and Finance to understand how AI technologies and methodologies have transformed the industry. This core module will provide the foundations and background for the technical and trade discussions covered in the other modules of the session. Will you be joining in on the fun?

The introductory module AI and the Transformation of Banking and Finance explores how retail banks are enlisting machine learning to accelerate the transformation of their organizations and markets. As an operational framework, we will begin by reviewing the basic business models and core processes of retail banking. Our analysis will then shift to how the evolution of banking technologies, state regulation and consumer behavior has provided powerful forces of change for the management of both the traditional banks and financial institutions.

The module AI and the Transformation of Banking and Finance contains two practicums. In the first, participants will explore in small groups how data science has impacted the industry in six key focus areas: Algorithmic Trading, Consumer Analytics, Financial Disintermediation, Fraud Management, Process Automation, and Risk Analysis. In the second, we will work together to identity the key technical and organizational challenges that AI project management must address in the years to come.

On the Summer School Web site, you will find our Quick Facts, executive summary, presentation videos, course brochure, and student testimonials .to understand why past students gave us five stars for the quality of our faculty, the responsiveness of our staff, and the diversity of our social activities.
