Dharmasthala
Nestled in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, Dharmasthala is renowned holy city known for its magnificent 800-year-old Sri Manjunatha Temple that attracts millions of devotees annually. Dharmasthala Managed for 21 generations by the Heggade family, thid sacred town is home to numerous social projects, as well as the impressive Manjusha Car Museum and Manjusha Cultural Musuem.
Located on top of Chamundi Hills, this temple has been built in Dravidian architectural style. The main deity of this temple is Goddess Chamundeshwari, who is also considered as the deity of Mysore Royal family. Walls carved intricately, an imposing seven tier gopuram, silver gates, majestic pillars, and The 360 degree view of Mysore makes the Chamundeshwari Temple even more alluring.
Located in Somnathpur, about 35 km away from Mysore, his temple was built in 1268 during the reign of King Narasimha III. Chennakeshava Temple is one of the best examples of Hoysala architecture. Standing on a raised platform, this temple is a Trikuta. consisting of three shrines dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
The Oriental Research Institute
Established as the Oriental Library in 1891 under the patronage of Maharaja Chamarajendra Wadiyar X, the Oriental Research Institute in Mysore has published nearly two hundred titles focusing on Indology and preserves over 45,000 ancient palm leaf manuscript bundles, including the world-famous Arthashastra edited by Dr. R. Shamashastry.
